Located in the green and peaceful Dahlem district of Berlin, the capital of Germany, the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) is an elite public institution that has concretized the vision of "Freedom" (Freie) in its name through its global academic achievements. Founded in 1948 during the Cold War era to defend free thought, the university today holds a permanent place among Germany's 11 best "Universities of Excellence".
Why FU Berlin?
The institution, which stands out with its broad international network, prestigious partnerships and esteemed academic staff, is one of Europe's most important academic research centers, especially in the fields of social sciences, humanities, natural sciences and medicine. The Philology Library (Philologische Bibliothek), considered the heart of the university, was designed by the famous architect Norman Foster and is referred to as "The Brain" among students due to its architecture resembling the human brain.
