Established in 2009 with the merger of the historic University of Karlsruhe and the massive Karlsruhe Research Center, KIT is rightly referred to in academic circles by the title "MIT of Germany". As one of the founding members of TU9, Germany's most prestigious union of technical universities, KIT is a world-class authority in mechanical engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence and renewable energy technologies.
Two Campuses: Campus Süd and Campus Nord
While Campus Süd in the city center is a historic area where theoretical education is given, Campus Nord outside the city is a massive national laboratory where nuclear physics, nanotechnology and climate research is conducted. Students get the chance to be involved in Europe's largest research projects even while still at the undergraduate level.
Undergraduate and Master's Admission Processes
Undergraduate Enrollment Requirements
- YKS Result: It is mandatory to have been placed in a 4-year technical undergraduate program in Türkiye with a high school diploma and YKS result.
- KIT Studienkolleg: Students whose high school diploma does not provide direct equivalence can study in the T-Kurs preparatory class by passing a challenging entrance exam.
- VPD and Portal: Applications are completed by obtaining a VPD document through Uni-Assist, and then through KIT's own Campus Management Portal.
Master's Selection
Admission committees expect the ECTS load of the courses on the candidate's undergraduate transcript to be 100% compatible with KIT's own Master's curriculum. Especially in programs such as Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, a credit shortfall in core courses is a direct reason for rejection.
