Overview

As a mentor on Toedur, Edurs must comply with tax regulations based on their earnings and visa status. Below is a guide to help you understand your tax obligations.

    Income Tax Responsibility

Edurs must have a balance of at least €200 in their Toedur account before they can request a withdrawal. This threshold is in place to help minimize transaction fees and ensure payouts are processed smoothly.

    • All income earned through Toedur is taxable in Germany and must be declared in your annual tax return (Einkommensteuererklärung).
    • Earnings should be classified as miscellaneous income (Sonstige Einkünfte) unless advised otherwise by a tax consultant.
    • If mentoring is a secondary activity (e.g., students, Blue Card holders), it will be added to your total taxable income for the year

    Visa-Specific Tax Rules

      Student Visa Holders

      • Mentoring income is taxable and must comply with the 120 full-day/240 half-day work limit, where applicable.
      • If annual revenue exceeds €22,000, VAT registration is required. Consult the Ausländerbehörde to ensure compliance.

      Erasmus Students

      • Earnings must align with scholarship rules and work restrictions.
      • VAT registration applies if income exceeds €22,000 per year.

Blue Card & Work Visa Holders

      • Full work authorization allows mentoring without restrictions.
      • VAT registration is required if earnings exceed €22,000 per year.

      Compliance & Reporting

      • Track Your Earnings: Use Toedur’s income summaries to monitor your revenue.
      • File Annual Tax Returns: Declare all income earned through Toedur.
